My primarily research interest is East Asian internet popular culture. I am currently working on my dissertation on the topic of Chinese internet fan culture, and its significance in reflecting on, echoing with, responding to, and sometimes subverting against the existing literary/media texts and social cultural value system both in and outside Chinese society.
I am also interested in the issue of Chinese genre literature and so-called "Internet Literature." I am equally interested in contemporary Chinese films.
I self-consider as an "aca-fan," actively participating in online fan culture. I am a fan translator for a couple of Chinese online fansub groups. I also create fan fiction, fan art and fan video occasionally.
