CMS 321: Punk

This course considers the sources, origins, development, major figures and legacies of punk, as reflected in literature, film, fashion, comics and music, with a focus on the 1970s and after. We will lay special emphasis on punk expressions by historically-oppressed people, and to some extent explore the Seattle punk scene in its historical and present-day iterations.  If you don’t know what punk means, come with an open mind and open heart. If you think you know what punk means, prepare to have your assumptions challenged.
