Most of our available funding is through Teaching Assistantships. TAships will come with a monthly stipend, health insurance coverage through the Graduate Appointee Insurance Plan, and a tuition waiver. The waiver covers the quarterly operating fee, building fee and technology fee. TAs will be responsible for paying additional fees not covered by the waiver.
All applicants (including international applicants) are eligible to apply for TAship funding. You will be asked during the application process if you would like to be considered for a TAship position. After submitting your online application, you will be sent an online supplemental form asking about funding. Submitting the form will indicato to us your interest in being considered for funding. International students must have a score of at lest 26 (TOEFL) or 7.0 (IELTS) on the speaking portion on file to be eligible for a TAship.
National language and literature departments at the University of Washington may have opportunities for TAships teaching language classes. Application process and deadlines will vary by department. Please inquire directly with the department/language program you are interested in If you have a native level speaking proficiency in a foreign language.
