I am particularly interested in archival excavations of understudied periods in Chinese film historiography, and my past research has mainly zoomed in on the works of Chinese Fourth-generation directors and their aesthetic experimentations in “modernizing” Chinese film language right after the Cultural Revolution. I am also very interested in the theories of André Bazin, as well as his influence to the Chinese film academia since the late 1970s. I am also a keen observer of the constant battle between censorship and Chinese Internet queer/danmei literature.
