Will Martinez (they/them)

Will Martinez (they/them) is a Cinema and Media studies Graduate student at the University of Washington from New Mexico. In their undergraduate studies, Will researched late 20th century Chicano and African American social movements through interdisciplinary film and literary paradigms. Concurrent to and following their undergraduate degree, Will also worked as the managing editor of the Chronicle of Mentoring & Coaching, an academic journal published out of the University of New Mexico. 

After developing and co-operating a local political film club, The Albuquerque Cinema Club, Will’s research has shifted towards the development of national film cultures through independent political cinema and the comparative study of American film movements to international third world counterparts. Will focuses on utilizing archival practice, preservation, and education as political praxis to connect American working people to global communities and struggles.
