Biography

M.F.A., Film Studies, Peking University, 2023
B.A., Television & Documentary, Communication University of China, 2020

I am a PhD student who works at the intersection of film history, women’s labor, and media technology. I’m interested in practicing new approaches to film studies such as video essays and digital humanities. I currently serve as an assistant editor at the Journal of Chinese Cinemas.

My ongoing research project, “Women’s Labor in Chinese Cinema, 1920 – 1950: A Digital Database,” is an online database on the history of women workers in Chinese movie theaters. This project is supported by the Simpson Center for Humanities (2024 Digital Humanities Summer Fellow).

I’m also co-organizing the 2024 Graduate Conference “Mediating Experiences, Experiencing Mediation” at our department. Scheduled on May 4, 2024, this one-day gathering aims to explore the multifaceted experiences of film and media, through lenses like technology, infrastructure, labor, and environment.
