Biography

Jingrui is a second-year PhD student in Cinema and Media Studies at the University of Washington. She is interested in the history of technology, media theory, and digital culture. Her work combines historical archives with digital tools, she explores alternative ways of doing meaningful and playful research.

Her database project “Women’s Labor in Chinese Cinema” has been supported by the Simpson Center for Humanities (2024 Digital Humanities Summer Fellow). She also received funding from the Top Scholar Award (2023). She co-organized the Graduate Research Cluster “Technology, Labor, and Gender” (2024 Fall, funded by the Simpson Center) and the Graduate Conference “Mediating Experiences, Experiencing Mediation” at UW (2024 Spring, funded by Cinema & Media Studies).
