Diana Bucio is an emerging film scholar with a background in performance and film production. Her active volunteer work with undocumented communities in Los Angeles inspires her to continue learning and working toward social change. These experiences have also inspired her academic and filmic interests, which reflect the need to highlight marginalized communities and increase BIPOC representation. Her research on “Atmosphereans,” illuminates the indispensable labor that film extras provide, and investigates their subsequent exploitation. Recently, Diana produced video content for the Northwest Folklife Festival, Plurifeminisms Across Abya Yala Symposium, and appeared as a guest speaker for NW Folklife's Creative & Cultural Development Workforce Program.
