We have received news that doctoral student Barbara Krystal has been awarded $7000 Alfred G. and Elma M. Milotte Scholarship (http://www.milotte.org/about.html) for the 2021 academic year.  Wildlife photographers and film makers Alfred and Elma Milotte used artistic communication to educate and inspire the public to the wonders of the natural world. Weaving art and science together illuminates their shared guiding principle of observation.  Barbara presented her observations of the sea through a series of photographs she took and titled, along with an accompanying poem for each photograph and a series of instrumental songs she collaborated on for a CD project entitled Water.

Barbara also had a written piece accepted for publication in becoming Feral (University of Wisconsin-Madison).  "Cirripedia" will be part of an upcoming book representing a multifaceted perspective on understandings of other-animals and their ‘wildness’ through the form of a bestiarum vocabulum (book of beasts) and the relationship between humans and non-humans.

Congratulations Barbara!
