In memoriam: Ching-Hsien Wang

Retired UW professor Ching-Hsien Wang died in Taipei on Friday, March 13th.  A renowned poet, essayist and critic of Taiwanese literature, he wrote under the pen name of Yang Mu.  He authored more than two dozen poetry and prose collections.  Among the literary prizes he received are the Newman Prize for Chinese Literature and the Cikada Prize (Sweden).  Professor Wang was a faculty member of the Department of Comparative Literature until he retired from the department in 2006.  

His passing was noted on the Focus Taiwan website.
