Cuate Mexica awarded Graduate School Medal

Submitted by Yuko Mera on

We have received news that Cuate Mexica (Ph.D. 2015) is this year’s recipient of the University of Washington Graduate School Medal.  The Graduate School Medal is given "to recognize Ph.D. candidates whose academic expertise and social awareness are integrated in a way that demonstrates an exemplary commitment to the University and its larger community." One doctoral student is chosen to receive the award every year.

While at the University of Washington, Cuate has generously given his time to help recruit and retain first-generation and underrepresented minority students.   He has shared his story to the University community and beyond about the transformative power of education. As he leaves Seattle for a postdoctoral fellowship at Arizona State University, he will no doubt continue to serve as an inspirational role model and mentor for many. Congratulations Cuate!
