Current doctoral student Mimi Nielsen has been selected to receivre the Graduate School Chester Fritz Fellowship for international study or research for the 2014-15 academic year. This three month fellowship will support Mimi's research at the University of Gothenburg. At the invitation of Professor Yvonne Leffler (Department of Literature, History of Ideas and Religion, University of Gothenburg), Mimi will participate in the research group Swedish Women Writers on Export in the 19th Century. Also called 1800-talsgruppen (the 19th-century group), this group represents the Swedish contingency in a European network of scholars who work to consolidate the international reception history of 19th-century women writers into a common database. While at the University of Gothenburg, Mimi will be researching the life, authorship, and transnational reception of the Swedish 19th-century author Emilie Flygare-Carlén, as well as the English author, Elizabeth Gaskell's, reception history in Sweden.
