Senior Seminar is a required class for all NELC majors. Through a set of core readings about the history and place of Near and Middle Eastern Studies at the US universities and at the University of Washington, this course focuses on honing academic presentation and communication skills and assessing the value of Near Eastern Languages and Civilization major after graduation. Students are encouraged to participate as active learners by reworking written papers and through other written and oral projects. Through peer feedback students learn from each other’s experiences as majors of Near Eastern Languages and Civilization. This course focuses on technical and contextual aspects of oral and written academic presentation and communication.

Catalog Description:
A selection of major theoretical statements in the history of literary theory and criticism, with texts drawn from such fields as literary studies, aesthetic theory, film studies, philosophy, and cultural studies.
