Donald Gilbert-Santamaría (Spanish) earned his PhD from UC Berkeley. An early modernist by training with a background in comparative literature, his research centers on problems of subjectivity, historical periodization, and aesthetics. He has recently completed a manuscript entitled The Poetics of Friendship in Early Modern Spain.
