Ricardo de Mambro Santos, Associate Professor and co-chair of Art History at the University of Willamette, is one of the most prestigious art historians in the world. By the time he completed his doctorate degree at the University of Rome, La Sapienza, six of his numerous scholarly books were already in print, including the widely reviewed Arcadie del vero, which offered novel perspectives on Caravaggio and Carracci. Professor Santos, who is fluent in nine languages, has published extensively on 15th and 16th century art and is the author of highly regarded studies of Leonardo da Vinci, Giorgio Vasari and Karl van Mander. He has also published many translations of art treatises, contributed TV documentaries and curated many art exhibits, including two at the University of Washington and one for the Hallie Ford Museum of Art in Oregon.
