Kate Bernheimer is the author of a story collection illustrated by Rikki Ducornet called Horse, Flower, Bird (Coffee House Press, 2010) and a novel trilogy including The Complete Tales of Ketzia Gold, The Complete Tales of Merry Gold, and The Complete Tales of Lucy Gold (all published by FC2, 2001, 2006, 2011). She is also editor of three anthologies: My Mother She Killed Me, My Father He Ate Me: Forty New Fairy Tales (Penguin Books, 2010), Brothers and Beasts: An Anthology of Men on Fairy Tales (Wayne State University Press, 2008), and Mirror, Mirror on the Wall: Women Writers Explore Their Favorite Fairy Tales (Anchor/Vintage, 1998 & 2nd. expanded ed. 2002). She also writes children's books, including The Girl in The Castle inside The Museum (Random House Children's Books, 2008), The Lonely Book (Random House Children's Books, forthcoming February 2012), and The Girl Who Wouldn't Brush Her Hair (Random House Children's Books, forthcoming 2013). Founder and editor of the literary journal Fairy Tale Review, she is Associate Professor at the University of Louisiana in Lafayette. She has published short fiction, essays, reviews, and interviews such places as Tin House, Bomb, Poets & Writers, Marvels & Tales: The Journal of Fairy-Tale Studies, Western Humanities Review, and The Los Angeles Times.
