Week 3: 1950's: Realism and the Emergence of a Parallel Art Cinema Tradition

Week 4 to 5.1: 1970's to 1990's: From the "Masala" Film to Bollywood

Week 5.2: Midterm Exam

Week 6.1: 2000s: Copyright, Piracy, Globalization

Week 6.2 to 8.1 : Contemporary Regional Cinema

Week 8.2 to 10: Multiplex Cinema, Contemporary Bollywood Blockbusters, Contemporary Indian Art Cinema

Examines the cinema of a particular national, ethnic or cultural group, with films typically shown in the original language with subtitles. Topics reflect themes and trends in the national cinema being studied.
